Indian Woollen Mills' Federation (IWMF)
Indian Woollen Mills' Federation (IWMF) is the apex body of the organized
woollen industry in India and is the National Committee for IWTO,
Brussels in India. Indian Woollen Mills' Federation is registered
under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 IWMF is the national body
representing the interests of India's wool, wool textile trade and
industry. As such, its membership covers primary processors, spinners and
weavers of wool and allied fibres and traders in India for whom it provides a
forum for the discussion of problems of joint concern and acts as their
spokesmen with all those bodies and authorities towards whom a common approach
is deemed necessary.
Indian Woollen Mills' Federation is recognized trade body of the woollen sector
to interact with Government and other statutory bodies to put
forward views on policy matters for the growth and promotion of a wide
spectrum of products lines from wool tops to finished products. Woollen
industry is providing critical inputs for major export items like
carpet, blankets, knitwear and readymade garments.
Indian Woollen Mills' Federation also holds to interaction with
other institutions and associations in India and overseas for the benefit of
obtaining and disbursing vital information to the woollen sector in
India. Federation acts as interface between Indian industry and
international bodies like IWTO, Woolmark Company, Australian Wool Innovation
(AWI) etc. which is of great significance in the current globalized market
Since textile has been recognized as a major employment generator, it has
been felt necessary to expand and organize scope of activities of the
Federation to provide better services and support to small, medium and large
scale sectors scattered all over the country.

Wool Research Association (WRA)
Wool Research Association was established in 1963, the only national institute
in the field of Wool Technology, is located in a green belt about 35 kms from
Mumbai. The concept of research and development in the field of wool
technology was initiated by foresighted woollen industrialist and WRA was
set up at the well-known textile training institution in the premises of the
V.J.T.I., Mumbai. During infancy it had a small laboratory and some
educational facilities leading to Diploma in Textiles (Wool). WRA is also
recognized for carrying out Applied Research leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degrees
of Mumbai University.
